About Mallku
Archaeological tourism with soul. We connect curious travelers with the deep history of Northwestern Argentina.
What does Mallku mean?
Mallku (also spelled Mallqu or Mallco) is an Aymara and Quechua word that literally means "condor", but it doesn't refer only to the bird.
In Andean cultures, the Mallku is a sacred figure: a guardian of the mountains, a symbol of wisdom, height, spiritual leadership, and connection with the ancestors.
The Mallku is not just the one who flies over the Andes, but the one who observes from above, protects the territory, and keeps alive the memory of the peoples.
That is our spirit: to be guardians of the archaeological memory of the NOA, sharing its richness with those who wish to discover it.
Our History
Mallku was born with the goal of spreading the archaeology of Tucumán through tourism, as a proposal that combines exploration, ancestral culture, and connection with the territory.
We are an archaeological excursion company based in Tucumán, Argentina, that invites curious travelers to discover the cultural richness of past and present: ancient cities, Andean culture, trails, pathways, and mysteries in ancestral landscapes.
Spaces that hold memories and historical secrets...
"Travel with us to the past, live your present. Tucumán as you've never seen it."
Our identity fuses the modern with the ancestral: a current, contemporary proposal that breathes history.

Our Guides
Archaeologists · Professional tourism guides
Every Mallku excursion is led by a professional with training in archaeology and the history of Northwestern Argentina. This is not a conventional tour guide: it's someone who has studied these sites, walked these hills hundreds of times, and knows every wall, every terrace, and every story behind the stones.
Their passion for outreach turns each outing into an experience where the landscape gains meaning. It's not enough to see Quilmes or the Menhirs — you need someone to explain why they matter, what happened there, and what they mean today.
That level of depth is what sets Mallku apart from any other excursion in the region.
They are Pablo and Mauro, archaeologists graduated from the prestigious Universidad Nacional de Tucumán, with academic experience and fieldwork throughout Northwestern Argentina. Their profile combines scientific rigor and a guiding vocation: they lead archaeological tourism experiences with expert landscape reading, heritage interpretation, and a respectful approach to communities and territory. Pablo specializes in rural community tourism, while Mauro focuses on rock art studies, bringing a precise perspective for understanding pre-Hispanic sites, records, and cultural contexts.
